Art experienced through the exhibitions, videos, information and conferences
by young critics from different cities trroughout the world. Four exhibitions
and eight conferences from the new nevralgic centres of the international
artistic and cultural system. The curators will focus on an environment, a
cultural thelos and the life surrounding it, each city giving life to an
online community.
EXHIBITIONS
Openspace, Milan City Council, Via Marconi 1 (Mezzanine level)
Each curator was free to chose the artists and works on exhibit - slides,
magazines, videos - to convey his/her city's artistic and cultural dimension.
3rd November - 5th December 1999
New York New York: Big City of Dreams curator Franklin Sirmans.
Franklin Sirmans is curator for the Studium Museum of Middletown, New York and
since 1993 edits publications of the DIA Center of the Arts, New York. Between
1996 and 1998 he was editor of ''Flash Art International''. He teaches at the
New York School of Visual Arts. He has organized a number of exhibitions and
edited catalogues.

Milan curator Roberto Pinto
Between 1989 and 1996 Roberto Pinto was editor and subsequently chief editor
of ''Flash Art''. He works as curator and consultant for the ''Progetto
Giovani'' of the Milan City Council. Amongst the events curated by him figure
La Generazione delle Immagini , a cycle of conferences on the most important
artists in the contemporary art scene, and Subway (art, literature, comics,
theatre in the train and subway stations of Milan) summer 1998.

London curator Gilda Williams
Gilda Willimas is editing director of the publishing house Phaldon. She
collaborates with a number of international reviews and has curated
exhibitions such as the recent Strange Days on contemporary British
photography.
16th May - 18th June 2000
Johannesburg curators Kendell Geers and Clive Keliner
Kendell Geers is artist and curator, Clive Keliner is an art critic. They have
actively contributed to opening the cultural scene in South Africa which
after years of isolation is a multiethnic meeting point undergoing rapid
transformation different.
CONFERENCES
La Generazione delle Immagini, Triennale, Palazzo dell'Arte, Via Alemagna 6
The sixth edition of La Generazione delle Immagini will take place within the
METROPOLITAN ATMOSPHERES project with the possibility of meeting eight young
curators who will describe the contemporary cultural scene through its
production centres.The conferences will be held every Tuesday from 18th
January to 7th March 2000 at 5.30 pm.

As well as providing information on the project the web site constitutes a
parallel event guiding visitors through the twelve cities studied by the
exhibitions and the cycle of conferences held by the critics (from November
