A Tribute to the Renaissance. A food performance by Jennifer Rubell, Co-hosted by Stefano Tonchi & Francesco Vezzoli
Performa, the leading organization dedicated to the critical role of live performance in 21st-century art, will celebrate its 10th anniversary with a fall fete in tribute to the Renaissance featuring a specially commissioned food performance by Jennifer Rubell. Co-hosted by W Magazine's Editor-in-Chief Stefano Tonchi and artist Francesco Vezzoli at the historic 1875 Weylin B. Seymours, (formerly Williamsburgh Savings Bank), the evening will honor Performa's Renaissance women including Maria Baibakova, Melva Bucksbaum, Toby Devan Lewis, Wendy Fisher, Shelley Fox Aarons, Joan Jonas, Pamela Joyner, Maja Hoffmann, Wangechi Mutu, Shirin Neshat, Yvonne Rainer, Cindy Sherman and Laurie Simmons. Performa's annual celebration is truly unique and atypical of the traditional gala in the way that Performa uses each occasion to shed light on the long-standing and often overlooked history of artists' performance. For Performa founder RoseLee Goldberg, it is exciting to use the gala to, bring history to life in extraordinarily direct, experiential and innovative ways. Proceeds from the gala will directly support the creation of new Performa Commissions for the upcoming Performa 15 biennial in November 2015.Tuesday, November 4, 2014 6pm to Midnight.
