Bergamo; Lucilla Ragni, Perugia; Odo Rumpf, Köln;Sandford & Gosti, Perugia; Luciano Sansone, Cortona; Anja Schindler, Cortona; Josef Snobl, Köln; Angelica Wittek, Köln; is showing together in the Hochbunker, Köln-Ehrenfeld.

Their first collaboration ''Art at a Walking Pace'' (Arte a passo d'uomo) was at Cortona's Fortezza di Girifalco, Italy in 2002. The artists have worked on site specific pieces that respond to the history and emotions of the environment in which they are shown. Their first show, organized by Anja Schindler, in the Medici Fort dealt with a hill top fortress in the country side of Tuscany. In fact the building was originally a border customs site at the farthest reaches of the Medici territories. This second show is in a building that has never been used for its original purpose of shelter/refuge during the war. It was built on the former site of a synagogue that was demolished in 1938. The bunker is a challenging space in the middle of a city neighborhood, very different from the first, yet both types of fortresses. Some of the artists have worked together on a regular basis, finding commonalities and differences but always working on a dialogue among themselves and with the exhibition site.

The objective is to make a culturally exciting exhibition that not only speaks to the spectator but that also helps the public enter in relation with the works and the ambiance.

Hochbunker Köln-Ehrenfeld will be open Fri. and Sat.
from 18-21 and Sun. 12-16.

The opening will be presented by Dr. Maria Lella from the Italian Cultural Institute in Köln and Herr Josef Wirges of the Bezirksvorsteher der Stadt Köln.
