Casematte is an immaterial journey through Google images and other web sites, a wandering in confirmation of lands, and their changes; it is a course that wishes to reconstruct its sights, photographing the screen as if it were reality.

Casematte is memory of vision without resorting to the weight of experience, bearing witness to the loss in creating our recollections of places we have never visited, of spaces we have never crossed.

In my itinerary the Casematte are bunkers that stand as an architectural archetype, like the “application summary of the highest rules.” Casematte aims to cover once again the experience of a journey on foot across the entire Atlantic Wall, “Bunker et archeologie,” which Paul Virilio carried out in the 1950s.

Casematte is an immaterial journey through Google images and other web sites, a wandering in confirmation of lands, and their changes; it is a course that wishes to reconstruct its sights, photographing the screen as if it were reality. But the closer I get to searching for a relationship with the image on the screen, the more it becomes out of focus; the more I look for truth, the more it gives its shadow back to me. Along this journey the images evoke, and do not represent, places, where the camera’s out-of-focus testifies to the missed experience of an actual trip. These images are only some stages along the entire visual journey.
