Jo Baer presents her latest publication / Exhibition with new works by Christian Hoischen
On June 11 at 5 pm Jo Baer presents her latest publication "Jo Baer - Broadsides & Belles Lettres. Selected Writings and Interviews 1965 - 2010" (Roma Publications, Amsterdam, 2010) and converses with independent curator and editor of the book Roel Arkesteijn. As she hopped from New York to London to Amsterdam, from Minimalism to Radical Figuration, painter Jo Baer has always searched for new ways to "do the right thing". Exhibition opening at 7 pm with new works by Christian Hoischen. Harmless cumulus clods, a heavily curtained window and three Eurofighters flying in formation have been conspicuously marked by the nonchalant employment of the spray can. With this aggressive gesture, Hoischen broadens the repertoire of disturbances in his paintings, previously present in the form of spilled paint, splatters, scratches and blurring. Yet the destructive act is an integral part of the formative concept. The artist continues his experimental handling of colour and form in his collages and works on paper.
