Alessandra Poggianti
Livorno, 1974. Lives and works as an independent curator between Milan Italy and Mexico City.

After working at the Curatorial Department of the Museo d’Arte Contemporanea di Rivoli (Turin) as curatorial assistant, and participated with Synapser, a network of young Italian curators created by undo.net (www.undo.net/synapser), in 2005 she starts collaborating with Katia Anguelova realizing a series of independent projects: “ARTETICA. Descrivere il resto”, Porto Cesareo 2007. “Suitcase illuminated”, mobile video project, Milan, Monterrey (Mexico), Ljubljana, Paris, 2007. “Stazione Livorno. Una guida per la città”, co-curated with Stefano Boccalini, published by Gli Ori Editori, 2007. “MIGRE”, project of cultural interchange, Careof & Centro Culturale Francese, Milan, 2006. “Multiplo_1. Daily endless multiple made recyclable”, in collaboration with CNEAI di Chatou (Paris) and realized for NO Gallery of Milan (2005).
As curator she has worked for independent galleries, non-profit art spaces and Italian and foreigner institutions.
As a critic she writes for specialized newspapers and magazines like Manifesto, Flash Art International, Código (Mexico), /seconds (London). Her texts have been published in many catalogues and art publications, i.e. “A12 Interview” Nouvelle Gallerie, Geneva, (2005); “Deborah Ligorio. Furla Prize”, Silvana Editrice (2005); “On Air. Video in onda in Italia”, Galleria Comunale d’Arte Contemporanea di Monfalcone (2004).

She is part of the curatorial staff of Isola Art Center since 2003.
