International Selection Panel
Whilst previous Biennales have been the vision of one artistic director, the Biennale of Sydney 2000 has invited six of the world's leading art figures to come together.

International Selection Panel
"I think that when you bring together a group of people with very diverse backgrounds such as is the case with the International Selection Panel, you can have a much more interesting conversation, and hopefully that will be reflected in the experience of the visitor at the Biennale; that is to say that you get a much richer show."
Sir Nicholas Serota, International Selection Panel.

FUMIO NANJO
Fumio Nanjo is an independent curator, art critic and lecturer at Keio University in Tokyo. International exhibitions which he has curated include 'APERTO 88, The 43rd Biennale di Venezia' (Italy, 1993), 'Against Nature: Japanese Art in the Eighties' (USA, 1989), 'A Cabinet of Signs: Contemporary Art from Post-Modern Japan' (UK, 1991), and 'TransCulture', the 46th Biennale di Venezia (Italy, 1995). As well as organising lectures and symposia, he has served as a consultant on the 'Shinjuku I-LAND' Public Art Projects. He writes extensively for international art journals including Le Cahler of the Centre Georges Pompidou, SD (Space Design), Flash Art and BT.

LOUISE NERI
Louise Neri ran Gertrude Street gallery and studio complex in Melbourne before moving to New York where she is an independent curator and from 1990 until 1999 has been U.S. Editor, Parkett Magazine, New York. She was curator (Oceania) for the Bienal de Sao Paulo, Brazil (1997-98), and co-curator for the 1997 Whitney Biennial, Whitney Museum of American Art, New York City. Neri works at various freelance writing and curatorial commissions and consultancies in Europe, the United Kingdom and the USA. Looking Up, her book on Rachel Whiteread's "Water Tower" sculpture in SoHo, will be released by Scalo (Fall 1999).
